December 19th was the deadline. Buildings needed to be placed, terrain needed to be edited. Textures decided on. The team was in place. Two weeks to rebuild a city to allow people to come in and beta test. What a task to be persued. The team consisted of skilled builders, scripters, animators and graphic artists. We had to make some type of replica of OWK in RL. Of course not an exact replica but some of the buildings were presented and altered to fit OWK in SL better.
Of course the plan started out with just the terrain and before any of the replication started on the surface we started with the guts: The sewers. They were made to have someone shackled and gagged, even in mouse-look ready to be dragged through the three structures in the sewer that are hidden from public view. Though you may at times hear screaming from within the bowels of OWK and be curious as to what is happening. This was an effect specially placed just below the Pillory.
Prior to starting, Shayna Paine, Doktur Shepherd (Her RL husband), Malachi Conover, Roxie Logan and Shira Dale took a picture of a Real building from OWK and made a small replica on one of her sims that was for sale. On Hatmehyt Harbor, a few of the women leaders in the OWK in SL hierarchy came by to see this structure and decided they wanted to move forward with it. Plans were confirmed and set in motion.
Week one: At the end of November they started to plan out what they were doing. On a smaller model in the middle of a flat sim, Shayna laid out a model of what buildings would go where and showed the underground portions of the build. The Sim was on lockdown while they built the sewers first. First Malachi Conover made the raw file of the first Terrain edit and it was uploaded to the sim. Land was formed a bit to smooth it out, then they started to work on the bowels of the sim.
Only 2 people worked on the sewers to start with: Shayna and Kulalyle. They were joined later with help from James Folger and Malachi Conover. The plan consisted of 3 major areas: a prison, an interrogation room, and a dungeon. The dungeon itself is fashioned much like one of the Real World OWK dungeon rooms. Some of the textures in the prison are made up from pictures of the real world OWK. The Interrogation room is totally designed to suit the creative Torturess in Second Life. After making a backup made of the sewers and they were satisfied with the layout, work began on the exterior of the sim. At the time, the team consisted of a handful of developers: Shayna Paine, Doktur Shepherd, Malachi Conover, Kulalyle Anatine, James Folger and also many of the slaves in Shayna’s stable helped with other aspects.
Week two: After the lower part was put into place and they put the land above it, Shayna called in the rest of the crew. They started to put the buildings in place. A small observation deck was placed on the corner of the sim away from the build that gave members a place to land and observe the building process. Another sim was stationed as the meeting area while the builders did their work below.
The Femdom community center about 1000M high on Isles of Ituana was a meeting place for interim activities. Activities were also held at other members' sims. Zavijava Voom and Loes Shi would host the dances.
Most of the replicated buildings were designed with the help of BeeQueen Smythe’s floor plans and some suggested changes. Doktur Shepherd constructed the castle, the new house, the long house and the riding hall as replicated buildings of the Real Life OWK in Second Life. Textures were custom made by Shayna Paine and to Second Life to decorate the buildings and develop the make and feel.
The placement of buildings on the sim was not exact to real life, compromises were make to accommodate SL. After the buildings were in place, other people joined in the building process and started to bring character to the place. Helen Schmid built the dog kennel replicate, the pony track, pond, gazebo and walking trail around the pond. James contributed the water fall in the lake. Shayna decorated with flowers doing a replication of the real life sports arena area outside the Riding Hall. The riding hall structure is decorated a little different than the real life one. We felt the need to have some personal touches on the inside. The castle is not exact to floor plan nor is the Longhouse.
Though the Longhouse has replicated places, like the Pool, Pub, and Club WandaThanks is due towards James Folger because he has replicated the devices from the Real OWK. Club Wanda is equipped with the Wheel of Torture and human table devices for Domme to enjoy and sit at.
The Castle has a few features that are taken from real life. We have the throne room, where the Queen has her parties or meetings, and where Helen Schmid and Shayna Paine worked on a replica of the Queens Throne. There were cabins put in place around the sim, a clinic to roleplay medical needs of the members, and a stage to have entertainment and live music on.
Finally on December 19th, Shayna and her Husband went on vacation for Christmas, asking that people beta test what was in place. She left the sim to be managed by her friends: Shine Rolls, BeeQueen Smythe, MistressJoann Nightfire, LittleMiss Frog, Loes Shi, Zavijava Voom. The decisions are still made by the Senate of Lady Citizens on the sim and there is now a new Queen to reign on OWK in SL.
